Purchase of land
The project provides the purchase of 32 hectares of private estates that include some of the last plots of typical natural resurgence habitats. Those lands, abandoned for decades, are characterized by alarming scrub encroachment and silting - due even to the water table lowering - which endanger natural habitats and characteristic species.
The project involves even the purchase - through an expropriation procedure - of 20 hectares of farmlands (cornfields and poplar plantations) in order to restore natural habitats in order to create a buffer zone protecting the most important habitats, rich in endangered floristic species.
Thanks to this project a very significant portions of Friuli resurgences habitats has been acquired to the public ownership: 24 hectares of natural habitats and 23 hectares of agricultural lands.
The purpose of these purchases is the expansion of the natural habitats of Community interest, the creation of ecological corridors through the restoration of agricultural lands, the management of abandoned lands to guarantee conservation and improvement of the whole resurgences system.
